Malta-Ghana Business Chamber of Commerce Visits GSA Director-General

A three-member delegation from the Malta-Ghana Business Chamber of Commerce (MGBCC), on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Director-General (DG) of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Prof. George Agyei, and other senior officials at the Authority’s head office in Accra. The meeting sought to explore opportunities for a structured partnership between GSA and MGBCC and aimed at strengthening cooperation between Ghanaian and Maltese stakeholders in areas such as standards harmonisation, quality management systems, and product certification. During the engagement, Madam Gertrude Challah, Executive Director of MGBCC, delivered a presentation outlining the objectives of the proposed collaboration. Key areas highlighted included improving the export readiness and competitiveness of Ghanaian enterprises, facilitating access to Maltese, European and other international markets, promoting standards awareness among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and private-sector businesses, and enhancing technical knowledge sharing and institutional exchange between the two organisations. Prof. Agyei expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and welcomed the proposed partnership. He noted that the Authority remains committed to supporting businesses through standards and quality infrastructure. “We have reviewed your presentation and the roles you envisage for GSA under this partnership. We exist because of trade, and our success is measured by how effectively we support Ghanaian businesses. We are always ready and willing to work with you, and our experts and technical officers are available to provide the necessary guidance and support,” he stated. Madam Barbara Apefa Wuttor, the Director of Administration, in her remarks, indicated that the Authority has a dedicated Partnerships Unit to coordinate collaborative engagements. She announced that Mr. Godwin Andinaan, Head of Partnerships, would serve as the focal point for official communication and coordination between the two institutions. Other GSA officials who contributed to the discussions included Madam Alice Donya, Director of Standards; Madam Diana Amponsah, Head of Product Inspection; and Madam Dzienyo A. Akafia, Head of Product Certification.
